tooled-leather relief print on 1982 Exxon CO2 Report; 10×10” (image 6×6”)
“Exxon’s 1982 report on CO2 forecast that atmospheric carbon dioxide would reach 420 ppm and global temperature would increase by 1.2oC around the year 2020. These values are near to what we are experiencing today. Exxon however actively challenged climate science and climate models (Supran et al, Assessing ExxonMobil’s global warming projections, Science 379, 153, 2023)”
ARTIST BIO: Jim Weaver grew up among the tree-lined streets of upstate New York; on the edge of state forests, farmers’ fields, and the region’s wetlands. His interest in nature and the outdoors led to a career in environmental restoration. Along the way, he began tooling leather with the goal of producing fine craftwork. Lately he has developed techniques to use tooled leather in printmaking, bringing a unique set of marks to paper. He has worked as an artist-in-residence at three National Parks.
