monotype gelli plate print; 10×10” (image 6×6”)
“This piece was based on Article 30 of the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights, covering the act of taking away any other stated human right. It depicts the way many people are victimized and stripped of their rights and freedom due to human trafficking. I wanted to show the way those who participate in this view others as products to be bought. By placing the viewer in the perspective of someone who is participating and reaching for the victim, I wanted to express how the average person is enabling these acts by turning a blind eye and remaining ignorant, allowing these practices to continue.”
