“I painted this portrait of my friend Gloria McConnaghy during my grieving of her. I woke up one night and started painting and trying hard to remember every detail of her face and stature and this is what came to me and comforted me in that hour.”

ARTIST BIO: Ricci Michaels is a visual artist and veteran who has been creating art for over fifty years. Her work has been shown in many galleries here and abroad. It work covers a variety of subjects and mediums with peace and social justice issues dominating throughout. Ricci is also the founder of the Urban Expression 101 Project, a non-profit that brings Art to People and People to Art focusing on veterans who struggle and promoting healing through the arts.
