“Inspired by the book of the same name, my collage refers to a genetically modified woman created as a servant and companion. Abandoned by her owner, her existence is illegal, and she will be killed if found out. Since the beginning of recored history, there have always been those who are seen as “less than” human. Are we destined to carry these injustices forward into the future?”
ARTIST BIO: Sharmon Davidson is a mixed media artist using colorful, dreamlike, nature-inspired imagery to explore the underlying interconnection of all things. Her work consists of monoprints enhanced with drawing and painting, and collages made from recycled vintage ephemera. Educated at Northern Kentucky University and the Art Academy of Cincinnati, she has exhibited throughout the U.S., and her work has appeared in many publications.
