“Five containers and a book capture an image, a moment when books, art, and structures were
destroyed both intentionally and unintentionally. When containers of thoughts and images
were considered too dangerous, too radical, too suspicious, too other to be allowed to exist, or
just simply neglected. This loss represents a loss of knowledge, culture, freedom and expres-
sion. Why do we remember?”
ARTIST BIO: Freid and Leader have collaborated over the years on projects and work that communicate a
shared vision of justice and the arts as a vehicle to embody and embrace the semantics and
visual condition that opens dialogue and encourages action. Their respective backgrounds and
experiences in travel, encounters with other cultures, education, diverse media provide the
ballast to engage in complimentary, parallel and collaborative practices.
