“‘Baraye’ which means “for ( the sake of)” is the title of lyrics written to honor the women of Iran protesting for their independence. The song ends with the refrain, “women, life, freedom”, which has been embraced by these brave women as their slogan. This assemblage is “For” the Iranian women in support of their struggles.”

ARTIST BIO: Jan Thomas has been an arts educator and working artist for over 40 years in Cincinnati. Her work explores social justice themes related to women and families. In 2022 she was recognized as an Ohio Designer/Craftsman Excellence in Arts Artist.
