“There is something beautiful about the movement of tones between black and white lines in a relief print that can evoke in the viewer an emotive sensation. I hope for these prints to convey a spirit of freedom and movement. They depict figures immersed in a patchwork landscape who share a common journey. Layer upon layer makes it possible for new imagery to develop, telling stories about the power of connection and endurance in a single moment.“

ARTIST BIO: Gail Skudera received a BFA and an MFA from Northern Illinois University and was the recipient of a Visual Artist Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. Her artworks have been exhibited nationally and internationally and she was recently selected to participate in “Fresh Legs 2023” at Inselgalerie, Berlin. Solo exhibitions include Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester, Maine Museum of Photographic Arts in Portland, Lafayette College in Easton, PA and Pavel Zoubok Gallery in New York. Her work is in numerous private and public collections. She lives and works in Lewiston, Maine.
