ARTIST BIO: Jan Brown Checco is a studio artist and arts administrator who creates commissioned works, and designs community-based projects that engage professionals and novices alike. She has created three public artworks for our Sister Cities Liuzhou, China, and Munich, Germany in partnership with local artists. For “Clay, Color and Fire” – a public mosaic project created in 2003 at T.M. Berry International Friendship Park in Cincinnati – she received the Post Corbett “Individual in the Arts” award. Jan holds a BFA in painting from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, and an MFA in sculpture from the University of Cincinnati DAAP.
